Kingdom life

Kingdom life

…your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9; NIV).

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes (Revelation 7:17; NIV).

…the kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21; NIV; alternative reading).

Father,
In the kingdom of heaven
There is no war or exploitation,
No suffering in body or mind,
No violence or abuse,
No cruelty or malice,
No selfishness or hatred,
No bitterness or envy -
Only love.

Lord,
May I live your kingdom life
Right now,
And may your will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven -
In all our lives.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Love

Love

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love
(Galatians 5:6; NIV).

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16; NIV).

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (1 John 4:12; NIV).

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you (1 Thessalonians 3:12; NIV).
Lord,
Please make your home
In my heart,
So your love overflows
To everyone
I have contact with today.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen.

Choice

Choice

Follow the way of love (1 Corinthians 14:1; NIV).

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children, and walk in the way of love (Ephesians 5:2; NIV).

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love
(Galatians 5:6; NIV).

Father,
Like Adam and Eve,
We always have a choice
Between right
And wrong.

Help us to choose your way -
The way of love,
In every thought,
Word
And deed,
As Jesus did.

Amen.

Mutual support

Mutual support

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34; NIV).

[He] comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God
(2 Corinthians 1:4; NIV).

Father,
Please help me
To expect nothing
From those I support,
Because then I won’t be
So hurt and disappointed
When they offer nothing in return,
Despite knowing
I have problems
Of my own.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

You know me

You know me

‘God have mercy on me, a sinner’ (Luke 18:13; NIV).

You, Lord, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you (Psalm 69:5; NIV).

Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely
(Psalm 139:4; NIV).

People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart
(1 Samuel 16:7; NIV).

Lord,
You know me completely;
My guilt is not hidden from you -
Have mercy on me, a sinner.

Help me to correct every unkind thought,
Restrain every hurtful word,
And control every selfish impulse.

Lord,
You know me completely;
My guilt is not hidden from you -
Have mercy on me, a sinner.

I ask this in Jesus’ perfect name,
Amen.

Praise

Praise

I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips
(Psalm 34:1; NIV).

Be faithful, even to the point of death (Revelation 2:10; NIV).

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death (Song of songs 8:6; NIV).

For I am convinced that neither death nor life […] nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-9; NIV).

Father,
I praise your holy name.

Nothing can separate me
From your love.

May your name be on my lips
At the moment of my death.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
